Words Do Hurt, So Choose Them Wisely

Hey everybody...

Sonny J here, and I'm back bringing you another post!

This actually happened today when I was sitting in one of the 24 hour computer labs working on homework. Me and a few of my friends were talking about life on the farm (not really...but we were talking about life) and a kid 4 computers down decides that he needed to put his two cents in.

That's fine with me, by all means join us, but then the conversation took a turn for the worse when he decided we were all "lame" and he used the phrase "you are all faggots."

My first words to him were "What did you just say?" I just wanted to make sure that I heard him correctly. He then decided to respond with "no offense" and he smiled about it.

No sir. No mam. No way, Jose (See I did Spanish there! Ha ha)

Citizens of the world, please be mindful of what you say to someone of the LGBT community, because there are a multitude of other words this gentleman could have said beside the 'F' word to express how he was feeling.  Not everyone has the same type of high self esteem and confidence such as me. It didn't hurt me, but had I not been 'out' already and maybe a little insecure about myself. It could have done a lot of damage.

Here is a link to a story about a kid named Jadin, he was recently taken off life support after attempting to commit suicide because he was bullied. It just goes to show that words DO hurt.

Well until my next blog post, peace and blessings blog buddies!

Hey there everybody! Sonny J here!

I'm a sophomore in college studying Communications, Music and Theatre.

Obviously I am gay, but I'm not your typical gay male. You wouldn't know that I was gay until you spoke to me or I did something to make you think that I was.

I'm outgoing, loud, crazy and fun 24/7. I'm open minded about a lot of things, and LGBT topics are close to me because it's my life.

I'll be writing/reviewing profile stories and make this blog specifically relate to LGBT college students.

Even if this isn't your thing, you can still learn a lot from what I'll talk about just so that you can help out a friend who may have lost his way.

Comment on any and everything, and don't be afraid to ask me questions! I promise I'm nice! =)

Other than that look out for a post from me soon!

Sonny J over and out!
